DHA, Housing Solutions for North Texas (DHA), announced today that the agency achieved its 11th year with zero audit findings. The audit was conducted by CohnReznick LLP, a third party advisory, assurance and tax firm. The comprehensive audit includes an evaluation of DHA’s financial statements, regulatory compliance, program reporting, cost allocations, internal controls for financial and program documentation and processes and cash management.
DHA is the largest public housing authority in the state of Texas and one of the largest in the nation. Given the complexity of the agency’s operations, achieving a zero finding audit report is a major accomplishment. The agency provides:
- Affordable housing solutions for more than 53,500 people each day
- Management of 3,453 DHA owned public and assisted housing units
- Administration of 16,251 Housing Choice Vouchers across seven counties, which provides housing to more than 40,000 people, and comprises 389 zip codes with 612 payment standards
- An annual operating budget of over $456 million and assets valued at over $471 million
The agency has navigated many federal budget and policy shifts in recent years, working closely with its regional Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) resources to ensure alignment and compliance with new regulations and program updates. DHA also has an A+ rating from S&P Global, the world’s leading provider of independent credit ratings.
“I am very proud of our team for accomplishing this milestone for 11 years,” says DHA president and CEO, Troy Broussard. “We work tirelessly on behalf of the people we serve to help ensure affordable housing programs are administered thoughtfully. It takes a lot of focus and care to administer a program of this size and scope, and our team has delivered quality and excellence yet again. Congratulations to everyone on our team for achieving this goal together.”
